Everyone Loves Pink

Thursday, 27 October 2016

Let's face it, you know that I know, that you love the colour pink. Even without realising your subconsciously attracted to any tones of pink. I mean it's everywhere! There's literally no escape, From the runways to all over Social Media and there's a reason why every major online fashion brand uses the power of pink!

According to Google 'The colour pink is the colour of universal love of oneself and of others. Pink represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace and approachability. Pink is the sweet side of the colour red'. Isn't that just the cutest! Basically, pink is that fuzzy feeling inside that you get when you take the first bite of a piece of chocolate or when you open your door and your dog or cat greets you. It's just all the feels.

It's why no surprise that I was so drawn to the sweetest dress from Boohoo! I've been buying a lot of pink lately; every texture you can imagine - from velvet crop tops, silk shirts to tinted sunglasses & bags. I just can't stop, I think I genuinely have a pink addiction. The majority of my Autumn / Winter wardrobe is beaming with it and it just makes me so happy! Can we also just talk about this superb Ted Baker bag from My Bag Online? You guys, the Rose Gold details are simply divine.

The Boohoo Cape

Tuesday, 25 October 2016

The endless love affair that I have with the Cape trend is un-real and what better time to unleash the trend and make it's grand entrance than Autumn. There is something so elegant about the silhouette of the cape, I love the versatility and the warmth it gives for these Autumn months - the perfect transitional piece to have in my Autumn / Winter wardrobe. My outfit details will be explored shortly, but first let me share a little bit about what I've gotten up to recently.

I don't know about you, but I love a good wardrobe clear out. I find myself feeling more calm and collected when I know that my wardrobe is not bursting full of clothes. Not only is it great to really just let go of those trousers that you might fit in if you loose a few pounds or even those extreme baggy tees that you'd DIY'd; which you convinced yourself is soo Yeezy. It's just time to let that go to a better home, maybe not the DIY ones but the ones that you had some good memories in you know?

Take these pieces for example, you see the white and teal looking jumper? Well i've been umming and ahhing about whether or not to donate it as it's one of the few pieces that I kept from my last trip back in Indonesia. I remember buying it at the local mall with my family and completely fallen in love with it because at the time I was really into teal... like I even wore teal eyeliner all the time. Anyways, they were just laughing at me because well, we were in Indonesia and it is literally like 30 degrees outside so there was really no point for me to buy it! But my excuse was that I needed it for when we go to the shopping areas and from the super-cold AC's in our cars... They just wouldn't let it go and just kept cracking jokes, as families do. Now that I look at it and as I type, I should have probably listened to them, because as soon as I got back to the UK i've literally only worn it a couple of times. Typical! I really didn't want to let go of it purely because of the smile it brings to me reminiscing over my family laughing at me. I'm sure next time I go back to Indonesia they'll probably ask me where that jumper's gone, well guys if you're reading this then i'm happy to say that it's gone to a new owner.*sigh*, good times.

There are loads of great charity shops in Liverpool and a few of my favourite are the British Heart Foundation ones - where these clothes were donated. At the top of my head there are two within Liverpool city centre; one in Bold Street and one near M&S :)

If you didn't know already the British Heart Foundation are the nation's heart charity and the largest independent founder of cardiovascular research. In their website they state that: 'Coronary heart disease is the UK's single biggest killer but we are leading the fight against it. Our pioneering research has helped to transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions.'

Thanks to Bohoo I was given the opportunity to add a few staples to my Autumn & Winter wardrobe which I am so excited to make more memories wearing, for example this gorgeous Cape jacket! As soon as I opened my parcel I just fell in love. I was so tempted to get the Pink one but who am I kidding, you just can't go wrong with black! I styled it with this lovely Floral dress which executed the Blair Waldorf vibes I was going for perfectly.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post, do let me know if you've had a wardrobe clear out recently!

What Does Travel Mean To You?

Wednesday, 19 October 2016

To me it simply means exploration. To continuously question and learn more about the world. A mega part of it is finding connections and similarities in people and places that I thought were so different. It's really about breaking down fears and letting go of all negativity and to just go and explore but realise at the same time, that everything is possible.

As you may know from my previous Arkadi Monastery post, this year I took some much needed time off to initially relax and unwind and headed over to the beautiful island of Crete. Last year however, I managed to squeeze 4 European countries into 2 weeks! It was super-tiring but at the same time mega- fun, as the days went on the thought of the next place became more and more exciting. The long travel times and transfers also became less boring and more interesting. I became more fascinated with how people interact with mundane tasks, like queuing up for tickets to ordering food. It's all the little things eh.

Now fast forward to 2016, with a huge job change and hair change; travelling wasn't even anywhere in my to do list. But as the opportunity came, thanks to my boyfriend's family - that little, Treasure Island - book loving, child inside me just said go for it. It didn't really hit me that I was so far away from my norm until this particular day. There was something about the scenery and frankly the fresh air that made me really appreciate the world and made me feel so calm. There was no pitter-patter of the streets, car engines; or the sound of the green-man at pedestrian crossing. Nothing but calming sea breezes that sweep through to your bones.

Feel Beautiful With James Viana London

Wednesday, 12 October 2016

Every lady loves a touch of glamour here and there. Why not add that extra bit of sparkle and accessorise with something rather luxurious? I personally love accessorising, as you can probably tell with most of my fashion posts; I am never without either some killer sunglasses or some foxy jewels. As seen in here, and here.

So as soon as I received a lovely email from the people at James Viana London saying they wanted to kindly gift me a piece from their collection how could I say no?

Their mission statement is to help every woman 'Feel Beautiful'. Each piece is made from the purest form of Silver i.e 925 Sterling Silver which is also hallmarked by the London Assay Office. So you are assured to add a fine piece of luxury jewellery to your collection. They have a wonderfully wide array of rings, pendants and jewellery-sets to tempt the eyes.

Now as you may or may not know, one of my favourite colours is Yellow! So it was no surprise that I was instantly drawn to this Yellow Cubic Zircon Silver Ring.I fell in love with the dainty heart shaped gems and just the general aesthetic of it. It was only since going to Crete that my love for Silver jewellery peaked, i'm usually a Gold or Rose Gold type of gurl but there was something about this ring that I knew I had to have!

The packaging is minimalist and elegant with a very stylish box, perfect to store all your bits and bobs at your desk or even to take as a ring case on holiday. In person the ring is so beautiful, I love the fit and also the simple elegance of it on when worn. It glimmers just so peacefully in the light that I legit couldn't stop staring at it for the first 10 mins from opening the package.

Now that Winter is creeping in and Christmas is literally around the corner why not have a browse and start planning your Christmas wishlist! Otherwise why not treat yourself this pay day? you can get 20% off the site using the code JVBO29! Be quick though, the code expires 31st December 2016 :)

What items do you like from James Viana? Do you know any great Christmas deals/gifts that are great for the list? :) Let me know in the comments section below!

Exploring Crete | The Arkadi Monastery

Thursday, 6 October 2016

As winter is finally blowing in I am asking myself seriously, where has Summer gone?
Last month I spent a lovely week away in the Greek islands of Crete!

We stayed near Rethymno, which is one of the largest towns in Greece. It is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Greece; which boasts majestic mansions of Venetian architecture and an almost fairy-tale atmosphere - with it's sweet idyllic streets. There is literally nothing but pure bliss, beach and villas which was a much needed for me (after a very jam packed couple of months!)

What I really loved the most was the chilled out vibe that everyone seemed to maintain, from the locals to the tourists (of course). No one is in a hurry and its great! Must be all the sun exposure and that 30 Degree heat *sigh... take me back already!

On this particular day we visited the Monastery of Arkadi. It is situated at an altitude of 500m above sea level and boasts numerous legends, heirlooms and a rich history of battles and heroism which took place there. It is almost like you are being taken back in time and get to actually experience the deeply rooted tales of the past.

The Arkadi Monastery is renowned as being a starting point for anyone visiting the area who wishes to bask in some of its more subtle, historical features. It offers a large variety of historical, religious and folklore sights whilst allowing any visitor to enjoy the unique natural beauty of the cliffs and grand scenery. Please be aware if you are planning on visiting, it's best to wear trousers or a long skirt and definitely not shorts to the monastery. They do offer skirts and various scarves on arrival for modesty on hand (thought this was very sweet). Thankfully there was this super cute boho skirt available - which surprisingly goes with my outfit! I felt much more comfortable and more respectable going to a place of worship, prayer and beauty.
