Makeup Masterclass With A Celebrity MUA
Recently I attended a superb MUA masterclass with the glamourously talented Elle B
Snapchat: @lifeofpingkan 🙂
Elle is a New York and London trained MUA; trained by Mario Dedivanovic who is of course the makeup artist of the Kardashians. The event was held in 60 Hope Street which I can only describe as the perfect location for an intense 3 hour makeup masterclass!
Elle taught us 2 looks this fine evening; one was a Kardashian focused fierce-night look and the other a stunning orange glossy look – great for day-time glam.

A few minutes into the masterclass and I had already learnt something new; I noticed that for the first look she used the Kiehls Ultra Face Moisturiser to hydrate and prep the face, then using a damp beauty blender she pressed the moisturiser in a gentle patting manner onto the models face. At this point my mind was blown already as personally the only time I ever really use a beauty blender is to put on my foundation and blend my under eye concealer. I never really thought of using it in any other way! Boy that was a great start!
Elle not only used the beauty blender for moisturiser, she had an array of different beauty blenders which she used for ‘baking’ – setting a lot of powder into place to achieve that flawless airbrush finish, adding contour colours and of course blending everything seamlessly together. This really stuck with me and ever since, I have been more adventurous with my Real Techniques beauty blender and haven’t be so vanilla with it at all :). I find that using it with various powders is a game changer in my daily makeup routine.
Now let’s talk about contouring; for the first step of her contour routine Elle selected a Bobbi Brown foundation that was a few shades darker than the models face and was more of a grey toned base providing an increasingly defined look rather than the orange warmth glow to the face. I also hear Youtube MUA’s talk about doing this, but it’s so much better to see it live in person than on the screen – you really do see the definition and the difference it makes!
After all the blending and setting, she then used the infamous Hoola bronzer to add a little bit more colour to the face and finished everything off with the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in bronze at the end, to give the face that extra umph!
Elle also taught us that contouring isn’t just for the cheeks you can also achieve the lusciously full Kylie lips just using a brown lipliner and gently lining the lips to make them appear fuller. Then finishing them off with a nude to give them that amped appeal.
