Boohoo #PartyAfterParty Christmas Blogger Event

Thursday, 22 December 2016

I was super-lucky to be invited to the Boohoo Christmas blogger event last month, hosted at the marvellous W hotel in London! The gorgeous team at Boohoo also kindly gifted me a piece to wear for the occasion and what better way to kick off the Christmas party than with some sass and glam - all thanks to this beaut of a dress inspired by the California-cool Jordyn Woods collection

As soon as I saw it on the website I knew that it was literally the perfect dress for the occasion. It has a wonderful array of complimentary colours that really made me feel uniquely glamorous - a real show-stopper of a dress that proclaims a classy BAM! For the actual event I wore some knee-high, heeled booties; thus deciding against heels and keeping it somewhat blogger-chic. The event was so fab! I finally got to meet a few blogger babes IRL which made my night and even got my boyfriend to strut his stuff on the Just Dance station with one side of his face full of glitter - courtesy of the Glitter-station on deck of course. I mean the copious amounts of prosecco we had during the day and cocktails at the event did spruce him up for it, but I knew deep inside he wanted to release his inner Sasha Fierce

Dress - Boohoo* | Bag - Forever21 Shoes - Zara

As inspo for NYE I would 100% suggest to go for a a classic black heel and minimal bag to let the outfit do all the talking. I mean it doesn't really need much as it's literally beams sparkle and sass!

All in all I had the best time and it was just so lovely to meet some babes from Boohoo HQ who were just as lovely as they are in their emails :)

Have you thought of your NYE outfit yet?

The IT Party Wear This Season | Very Liverpool Blogger Event

Wednesday, 7 December 2016

Hustle, bustle, hurry!
Tis the season to be merry,
sparkling and in the spotlight.

What better way to kick off the winter party season than a trip to Very headquarters to check out their perfectly hand-picked party pieces as an exclusive blogger sneak peek! Not only do they have catwalk-ready pieces, but they also cater to dance floor staples and are all ready to view and buy, at your fingertips.

I adored their clean and yet sparkly event decor, just enough glamour without over powering the main focus - which is of course is the fabulous clothes! As I took a leisurely stroll around the show room there were a few party-wear essentials which really spoke to me. First up, the beautiful sequin and metallic dresses showcased in the middle of the room would be a sure show-stopper for any Christmas night outs.

Next we had a classic take on the LBD's, just because it's black doesn't mean it has to be basic ;) I loved the detailing in particular with these two dresses as they exude sophistication and glamour. I can envisage this with a matte red lip, accompanied with a strong cat-eye and your ready to hit the dance floor...

What outfit is complete without accessories! There were a stunning array of accessories and shoes - the ones that immediately caught my eye were the cutest glitter bag (which has the perfect amount of room to fit your night on the town essentials) and of course, these black and glitter heels. I mean just look at them - velvet and glitter are a perfect pairing of rich and bold!

There was also a NYX stand where you could have a little makeover from their talented MUA's and after falling in love with their copper glitters and eyeshadows - I went on a mission at lunch to have it for my own makeup collection.

Thank you to the sweet ladies at Very for my gorgeous time at your HQ! Also for everyone reading - I hope you all eat, drink & be very merry over the coming weeks!

I'd love to know, how are you getting your sparkle-on this xmas?!

A Taste Of Thai | Chaophraya Liverpool

Tuesday, 22 November 2016

As you may already know by my numerous foodie related pictures over on my instagram; I love food, especially spicy food! So when I heard word of Chaopraya Liverpool putting together a tasteful, foodie occasion - of course I jumped at the chance!

With my blogger babe Rio in tow, we headed off for a night of fine thai dining experience!
We were greeted with the friendliest smiles and lead nicely to our seats, the decor and atmosphere of Chaopraya was splendid; just the perfect amount of chitter-chatter accompanying the infused, fragrant smells of the orient.

We both ordered the Mockingbird (Jinzu Gin, Maraschino, Pink Grapefruit Juice, Cherry, Soda) to start the night, which comes in the most flamboyant cage - Perfectly instagram-worthy might I add :). Not only is it stunning, the cocktail itself was very refreshing with a hint of sweetness from the cherry which I really liked.

After a few social media updates and photos it was already time to order our food.

We decided to share everything as it is the Thai way and Chaophraya encourages you to eat 'family style', where multiple dishes are shared by everyone at the table. Personally I love this style of eating not only do you get to try a bit of everything, you also really do feel that sense of family by the simple gesture of sharing. It makes the meal all the more relaxing :)

We went for the Chicken Satay which is described as 'A classic dish of chicken bamboo skewers, carefully grilled over charcoal, served with homemade peanut sauce and vegetable relish'.
Thai Fishcakes 'Spicy cod and coley fish cakes blended with our special recipe of green beans, lime leaves and red curry paste served with a sweet chilli sauce and a peanut vegetable relish'.
And one of my all time favourites Soft Shell Crab & Sweet & Squid Tempura which is described as 'Soft shell crab and squid in a light crispy batter along with wing bean and asparagus tempura with chilli & lime avocado dip'.

All were exceptional dishes but the one that stood out the most to me was the Soft Shell Crab, the crispness of the batter along with the zesty chilli & lime avocado dip was just the dream!

Moving onto the mains, we first decided that it was a must to try the Chicken Pad Thai as it is 'The national dish of Thailand'. Stir-fried rice noodles in tamarind sauce with chicken, spring onions, carrots, egg, tofu, sweet turnip and bean sprouts, topped with lightly pickled vegetables'. I mean didn't that just scream deliciousness?!

To finish off the night we also had the Palm Sugar & Chilli Glazed Chicken which is described as 'Baby chicken grilled over charcoal with a palm sugar, chilli and coriander glaze. Served with a salad of carrots, mango, asparagus, papaya and baby gem lettuce'. Accompanied by a bowl of Sticky Rice. Now, if you want your chicken to be packed full of flavour with a kick of spice and herbs then this is definitely the dish for you. No basic chicken here! Also note that the salad that this dish comes with is also quite spectacular, everything tasted so fresh and so sweet - a really nice accompaniment to the flavourful chicken.

Overall I had a fabulous time at Chaopraya and will definitely be back to enjoy more of their new menu. I already have my eyes set on the seared 8oz sirloin steak on a Himalayan rock salt block and the Papaya Salad!!

What's your favourite Thai dish? Please leave your recommendations below!

Everyone Loves Pink

Thursday, 27 October 2016

Let's face it, you know that I know, that you love the colour pink. Even without realising your subconsciously attracted to any tones of pink. I mean it's everywhere! There's literally no escape, From the runways to all over Social Media and there's a reason why every major online fashion brand uses the power of pink!

According to Google 'The colour pink is the colour of universal love of oneself and of others. Pink represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace and approachability. Pink is the sweet side of the colour red'. Isn't that just the cutest! Basically, pink is that fuzzy feeling inside that you get when you take the first bite of a piece of chocolate or when you open your door and your dog or cat greets you. It's just all the feels.

It's why no surprise that I was so drawn to the sweetest dress from Boohoo! I've been buying a lot of pink lately; every texture you can imagine - from velvet crop tops, silk shirts to tinted sunglasses & bags. I just can't stop, I think I genuinely have a pink addiction. The majority of my Autumn / Winter wardrobe is beaming with it and it just makes me so happy! Can we also just talk about this superb Ted Baker bag from My Bag Online? You guys, the Rose Gold details are simply divine.

The Boohoo Cape

Tuesday, 25 October 2016

The endless love affair that I have with the Cape trend is un-real and what better time to unleash the trend and make it's grand entrance than Autumn. There is something so elegant about the silhouette of the cape, I love the versatility and the warmth it gives for these Autumn months - the perfect transitional piece to have in my Autumn / Winter wardrobe. My outfit details will be explored shortly, but first let me share a little bit about what I've gotten up to recently.

I don't know about you, but I love a good wardrobe clear out. I find myself feeling more calm and collected when I know that my wardrobe is not bursting full of clothes. Not only is it great to really just let go of those trousers that you might fit in if you loose a few pounds or even those extreme baggy tees that you'd DIY'd; which you convinced yourself is soo Yeezy. It's just time to let that go to a better home, maybe not the DIY ones but the ones that you had some good memories in you know?

Take these pieces for example, you see the white and teal looking jumper? Well i've been umming and ahhing about whether or not to donate it as it's one of the few pieces that I kept from my last trip back in Indonesia. I remember buying it at the local mall with my family and completely fallen in love with it because at the time I was really into teal... like I even wore teal eyeliner all the time. Anyways, they were just laughing at me because well, we were in Indonesia and it is literally like 30 degrees outside so there was really no point for me to buy it! But my excuse was that I needed it for when we go to the shopping areas and from the super-cold AC's in our cars... They just wouldn't let it go and just kept cracking jokes, as families do. Now that I look at it and as I type, I should have probably listened to them, because as soon as I got back to the UK i've literally only worn it a couple of times. Typical! I really didn't want to let go of it purely because of the smile it brings to me reminiscing over my family laughing at me. I'm sure next time I go back to Indonesia they'll probably ask me where that jumper's gone, well guys if you're reading this then i'm happy to say that it's gone to a new owner.*sigh*, good times.

There are loads of great charity shops in Liverpool and a few of my favourite are the British Heart Foundation ones - where these clothes were donated. At the top of my head there are two within Liverpool city centre; one in Bold Street and one near M&S :)

If you didn't know already the British Heart Foundation are the nation's heart charity and the largest independent founder of cardiovascular research. In their website they state that: 'Coronary heart disease is the UK's single biggest killer but we are leading the fight against it. Our pioneering research has helped to transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions.'

Thanks to Bohoo I was given the opportunity to add a few staples to my Autumn & Winter wardrobe which I am so excited to make more memories wearing, for example this gorgeous Cape jacket! As soon as I opened my parcel I just fell in love. I was so tempted to get the Pink one but who am I kidding, you just can't go wrong with black! I styled it with this lovely Floral dress which executed the Blair Waldorf vibes I was going for perfectly.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post, do let me know if you've had a wardrobe clear out recently!

What Does Travel Mean To You?

Wednesday, 19 October 2016

To me it simply means exploration. To continuously question and learn more about the world. A mega part of it is finding connections and similarities in people and places that I thought were so different. It's really about breaking down fears and letting go of all negativity and to just go and explore but realise at the same time, that everything is possible.

As you may know from my previous Arkadi Monastery post, this year I took some much needed time off to initially relax and unwind and headed over to the beautiful island of Crete. Last year however, I managed to squeeze 4 European countries into 2 weeks! It was super-tiring but at the same time mega- fun, as the days went on the thought of the next place became more and more exciting. The long travel times and transfers also became less boring and more interesting. I became more fascinated with how people interact with mundane tasks, like queuing up for tickets to ordering food. It's all the little things eh.

Now fast forward to 2016, with a huge job change and hair change; travelling wasn't even anywhere in my to do list. But as the opportunity came, thanks to my boyfriend's family - that little, Treasure Island - book loving, child inside me just said go for it. It didn't really hit me that I was so far away from my norm until this particular day. There was something about the scenery and frankly the fresh air that made me really appreciate the world and made me feel so calm. There was no pitter-patter of the streets, car engines; or the sound of the green-man at pedestrian crossing. Nothing but calming sea breezes that sweep through to your bones.

Feel Beautiful With James Viana London

Wednesday, 12 October 2016

Every lady loves a touch of glamour here and there. Why not add that extra bit of sparkle and accessorise with something rather luxurious? I personally love accessorising, as you can probably tell with most of my fashion posts; I am never without either some killer sunglasses or some foxy jewels. As seen in here, and here.

So as soon as I received a lovely email from the people at James Viana London saying they wanted to kindly gift me a piece from their collection how could I say no?

Their mission statement is to help every woman 'Feel Beautiful'. Each piece is made from the purest form of Silver i.e 925 Sterling Silver which is also hallmarked by the London Assay Office. So you are assured to add a fine piece of luxury jewellery to your collection. They have a wonderfully wide array of rings, pendants and jewellery-sets to tempt the eyes.

Now as you may or may not know, one of my favourite colours is Yellow! So it was no surprise that I was instantly drawn to this Yellow Cubic Zircon Silver Ring.I fell in love with the dainty heart shaped gems and just the general aesthetic of it. It was only since going to Crete that my love for Silver jewellery peaked, i'm usually a Gold or Rose Gold type of gurl but there was something about this ring that I knew I had to have!

The packaging is minimalist and elegant with a very stylish box, perfect to store all your bits and bobs at your desk or even to take as a ring case on holiday. In person the ring is so beautiful, I love the fit and also the simple elegance of it on when worn. It glimmers just so peacefully in the light that I legit couldn't stop staring at it for the first 10 mins from opening the package.

Now that Winter is creeping in and Christmas is literally around the corner why not have a browse and start planning your Christmas wishlist! Otherwise why not treat yourself this pay day? you can get 20% off the site using the code JVBO29! Be quick though, the code expires 31st December 2016 :)

What items do you like from James Viana? Do you know any great Christmas deals/gifts that are great for the list? :) Let me know in the comments section below!
